Jharsuguda Dist. 58th van Mahaotsav was celebrated at Girls High School

Jharsuguda:  58th Van Mahaotsav week was being celebrated from 2nd Oct – 8th October. In this context a Small function held yesterday at Girls High School Jharsuguda. Where the Ex- VC of Sambalpur University, Dr. Dhruv Charan Nayak was the chief Guest of the function along with DFO Ashwini Ku. Kar Asst. C.F.O Mr. B.S. Barla , Smt. Radha Rani Devi , Principal of Girls High School , Smt. Meera Pattnaik , Principal Sarbahal High School who were the Guest of Honour.

The function started with lighting of lamp by the Chief Guest and a welcome song sung by the students of Girls High School.

This Van Mahatsav Celebration was organized by the Dist. Forest Department in the first week of October staring from 2nd Oct till 8th October.

Ex- VC of Sambalpur University Dr. Druv Charan Nayak explained about the importance of forest and he also explaned about how he along with villagers had protected Andheri Jungle situated at Laikera Block. They had formed a “Van Surakhya Sangh” which checks after the illegal cutting of trees and if it has done then they planted several trees for restoration.

He added that in future we should come up voluntarily and should create awareness among the children’s and the youth because they are the future who would take the lead when they grew up as things learnt at very early stage usually stays forever.

DFO Mr. Kar has said that “In the year 1952 Indian wildlife board was formed and that year only it was decided to celebrate one week as a Van Mahotsav for creating awareness among the people. The Present situation of forest is that day by day it is becoming shorter and shorter, Due to several reason like industrialization, illegal cutting of trees etc. which are the main reason for the extinction of various species. So we should always try to save and protect these forests.
