Heavy rains lashes Jharsuguda, NH- 49 cut off
Jharsuguda: Heavy rains since yesterday night from 9. P.M. had paralyzed normal traffic and railways in Jharsuguda. According to the Local Metrological Department 224mm of rains has been recorded during last 24 hours. Due to this heavy down pour there were water logging at several places i.e. Durga Mandap , Chandan Market Complex, Mangal Bazaar Chowk infront of Hotel Lalit Heritage etc even the railways track of the Platform No.1 were submerged. According to the sources, Signalling systems were affected due to rains at Brundamal and Lapanga Station which was later rectified.
National Highway � 49 which connect to National Highway � 200 remained cut off due to this heavy downpour. The water levels here were flowing above the normal level and flowing over the Kumhrapalli Bridge. In Several places roads were found damaged due to which many trucks and passenger�s vehicles were lying stranded and waiting water levels to recede.
Many school children�s in the city remained absent from their school and almost shops opened very late. Due to this water logging an ATM of Axis bank situated at Chandan Market Complex was also being submerged under the water.
Even the waters level of Kherwal River are flowing above, forcing waters to completely covering the nearby areas.
