Jharsuguda Police rolls out elaborate security plan for a peaceful Durga Puja

Jharsuguda: With the festive season around the corner, Jharsuguda Police have chalked out strict security and enforcement measures to ensure peaceful Durga Puja celebrations across the district.

In this regard, a Preparatory-cum-Peace Meet for Durgapuja & Dusshera was held at DMF Auditorium, Jharsuguda, with members of all Durga Puja Committees, in the presence of Jharsuguda District Collector Kunal M Chavan, Jharsuguda SP G. Reddy Raghavendra, along with other officials.

Jharsuguda Superintendent of Police G. Reddy Raghavendra on Monday said that nearly 99 Puja pandals will be erected across Jharsuguda district, including 20 in Jharsuguda town alone. To manage the large gatherings, police have directed all organisers to comply with mandatory safety guidelines.

“All pandals must be equipped with CCTV cameras, have proper structural safety clearance, parking arrangements, and designated areas for Dussehra rituals. Our objective is to allow residents to celebrate the festival with ease and security,” the SP said.

In addition, the administration has deployed anti-chain snatching squads and special patrolling teams to prevent untoward incidents during the festivities. Quick response teams will also remain on standby.

To streamline procedures, the district administration is planning to introduced a single-window system for permissions, enabling organisers to obtain approvals from fire, police, and other departments in one go.  The SP further appealed to Puja committees and residents to cooperate with authorities, stressing that adherence to safety norms will help ensure smooth and joyous celebrations throughout the district.
