Training-cum-Demonstration on CRRI Biofertilizer Model Organized for Odisha Farming Community at Kumaradihi village, Kolabira Block, Jharsuguda.

Jharsuguda: A Training-cum-Demonstration program on the CRRI biofertilizer model was organized at Kumaradihi village in Kolabira Block of Jharsuguda district under the project Jaivaposhak. This initiative, led by Upendra Kumar, Senior Scientist of the Central Rice Research Institute (CRRI) and the Principal Investigator of the project, aimed to educate farmers on sustainable agricultural practices using biofertilizers.
The event was held in collaboration with the organization Social Education for Women’s Awareness (SEWA) and was moderated by Chudamani Bariha from SEWA under the supervision of Sri Sushil Kumar Dash, Founder Secretary of SEWA. The program was coordinated by P. Pannerselvam and A.K. Mukherjee, Principal Scientists from CRRI.
P. Pannerselvam demonstrated the decomposition of rice straw into valuable compost using the CRRI-Tech Decomposer combined with cow dung and urea. He emphasized the importance of applying biofertilizers to conserve soil and environmental health. Meanwhile, A.K. Mukherjee elaborated on the benefits and applications of Rhizobium and Trichoderma to enhance yield in pulse crops. He also explained the usage of biofertilizers in various vegetable crops to promote sustainable yield improvements.
The program was facilitated by Sarat Chandra Sahoo, Technical staff, and other project staff from CRRI. It witnessed active participation from around 95 farmers and farmwomen representing Trumuki Farmers Producer Company Ltd. from Muradipalli village, Bajrang Farmers Producer Company Ltd. from Baiganbud village, and Jangalinga Mahila Farmers Producer Company Ltd. from Kumaridihi village of Laikera and Kolabira blocks, respectively.
The event successfully educated and empowered the farming community on the use of innovative biofertilizers, paving the way for sustainable agricultural practices in the region.
