Jharsuguda Collector Announces Three-Day Programme for International Women’s Day
Jharsuguda: The Jharsuguda district administration will organize a three-day special programme from March 6 to March 8 to celebrate International Women’s Day, informed District Collector Kunal Motiram Chavan during a press meet on Wednesday.
The programme is being jointly organized by the District Administration, District Sports and Youth Services Department, and the District Social Welfare Department, aiming to promote women’s empowerment, health awareness, and participation in social activities across the district.
According to the Collector, the celebrations will feature different themes each day. On March 6, the theme will be “Shakti Swaroopini – Her Body, Her Power”, under which activities such as a Zumba session for women and career counselling for adolescent girls will be conducted.
On March 7, the theme “Empowered Women, Empowered Nation” will focus on women’s health and safety, with events including a health awareness camp and karate self-defence training for women.
The final day, March 8, coinciding with International Women’s Day, will be celebrated under the theme “When She Moves, India Moves.” A mega walkathon will be organized from Kali Temple to Jharsuguda Engineering School to spread awareness on women’s empowerment. Additionally, the fourth installment of Subhadra Yojana will also be distributed during the programme.
Collector Chavan stated that the objective of these initiatives is to honour women and strengthen awareness about their health, safety, and empowerment. He urged Self Help Group (SHG) members, ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, and women across the district to participate in large numbers and make the programme a grand success.
The district administration expects enthusiastic participation from women and youth, making the celebration a vibrant platform for awareness, empowerment, and community engagement.
