A Bollywood film that will remain special for everyone even after 25years. Bollywood most iconic romance ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’ has completed 25 years of Bollywood. Aditya Chopra’s first film as a director starring Shahrukh Khan and Kajol in the lead role. The film is the longest-running film of Indian cinema. It has been running for over 1000 weeks at the Maratha Temple Theater in Mumbai, and still, it can be seen at the Maratha temple.

  1. 1. Shah Rukh Khan was not the original choice for Raj Malhotra.
  2. Director Aditya Chopra wanted to cast Tom Cruise as the hero in this film. The first title of the film was also ‘The Braveheart Will Take the Bride’.

2. Farah Khan was not the first choice for the choreographer.

After several disagreements with Aditya Chopra, choreographer Saroj Khan was replaced by Farah Khan at a later stage of the production.

3. Shah Rukh Khan refused to do the film.

Shahrukh refused to do the film after reading the script of DDLJ. The film’s director Aditya Chopra convinced Shah Rukh to play a role in the film. If Shahrukh would not have agreed, then this role was being offered to Saif Ali Khan.

 4. The film’s title was the brainchild of veteran actor Kirron Kher.

Actor-politician Kirron Kher suggested the title of the movie. Everyone thought it was too long, but Adi was thrilled with the name. He even also credited Kirron in the opening titles of the film. 

5. Uday Chopra and Karan Johar locked themselves in a room.

Uday Chopra and Karan Johar were given the responsibility of editing the video of the making of the film ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’. For this work, both of them kept themselves locked in the editing room for several days. 

6. Mehndi Laga Ke Rakhna made for another movie. 

One of the most popular tracks ‘Mehndi Laga Ke Rakhna’ from the movie was made initially for some other movie.

7. Name ‘Raj’ dedication to Raj Kapoor.

Aditya Chopra named Shahrukh in the film ‘Raj’ which was inspired by the showman Raj Kapoor. His full name in the film was Rajnath, which was inspired by Rishi Kapoor’s name in the 1973 film ‘Bobby’.

8. A leather jacket

Uday Chopra originally purchased Shah Rukh Khan’s famous leather jacket which he wore in the movie from a Harley-Davidson store in Bakersfield for $400.

9. Mere khwabon mein jo aaye was written 24 times

‘Mere khwaboon mein jo aaye’ was the first song recorded for the movie DDLJ. Reportedly, lyricist Anand Bakshi had written the song 24 times. Anand Ji had approached director Aditya Chopra and showed him the song however Chopra kept rejecting the lyrics until the 24th time.

10. Armaan Kohli’s bad luck

Call it Armaan Kohli’s lousy luck or Parmeet Sethi’s good luck but Armaan was first approached to play the role of Simran’s fiance, Kuljeet in DDLJ. As luck would have it, the role went to Parmeet as he came to the audition wearing boots, jeans and a waistcoat!
