Jharsuguda : Jharsuguda Town Police on Friday arrested three members of an attention diversion gang who use to target people visiting the bank and lift their cash from the dickey of their vehicles.
The three accused were identified as Kalia alias A. Kali Das (52), D. Srinivas Erogola (19) and A. Srinu, all three belong to the resident of Aska, District Ganjam.
As per Jharsuguda SDPO, Kailash Acharya said that �We have been tracking these suspected linked into two cases of Jharsuguda district registered under Laikera and Badmal Police station respectively. in which both cases money had been taken away from the dickey of the bike. In this regard, we had consisted of two teams and while vehicle checking on Thursday, we apprehended four accused, among which one of their team members managed to escape from the spot.
We have arrested the three accused including cash seizure of Rs. 90,000, three bikes, Six Mobile Phone and Two T shaped Instruments used in opening the locks of the bike dickeys”
He added, the main modus of Operandi of this gang is that they usually target the innocent people who visit the banks and withdraws money. They follow them and when they found the bike parked in the ideal place. The members of the gang stand near the motorcycle as no one doubts that the bike doesn�t belong to them and then by the help of a T shape instrument they open the dickey within minutes and lifts the cash from the spot and fled away quickly. They are a part of a dickey lifting group of a gang operating in Odisha and have been camping in Sambalpur and now presently in Sundargarh. They have confessed to having committed a similar crime under several places like Patnagarh, Deogarh, Mahulpali, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Brajrajnagar, Rourkela and Bolangir.
