VEDANTA – IIM SAMBALPUR TO WORK TOGETHER FOR INDUSTRY ACDEMIA INTERFACE
Jharsuguda : With the notion of engaging with some of the best academic minds of the country for mutual betterment and exchange of ideas Vedanta Limited Jharsuguda conducted Industry-Academia Interface with the first MBA batch of IIM Sambalpur. The students and faculty were hosted by Mr. Abhijit Pati, CEO, Aluminium business and Mr. Dilip Ranjan Sahoo, Head HR, Aluminium Sector, also present on the occasion were senior officials from Plant Mr. G.G Pal and Mr. M. Sakthivel along with PR and CSR team.
The session was attended by 34 students along with two faculty members of IIM Sambalpur. The meeting which began by 3.00 PM at Vedanta Guest house opened with a brief overview of the plant and safety briefing followed by Plant visit. Students and faculty were taken to both Aluminium and power plants and were given brief inductions for their better understanding of the plant functioning. The plant visit was followed by CSR briefing by Mr. Nishant Kumar, Head CSR, Vedanta Limited Jharsuguda.
In the evening Mr. Abhijit Pati, CEO Aluminium Business hosted a high tea for the students and interacted with them on Prospects of Aluminium in India and Global Scenario and answered to �the questions and concerns raised by the students.
Mr. Pati said �IIM Sambalpur holds the hopes of the regional academic excellence contributing to the development and growth of the state and the coming together of Vedanta and IIM will augur a new era of academic and technical excellence for the region. He expressed immense happiness in interacting with country�s dynamic future managers.
A joint coordination committee is proposed to work on areas of collaboration like Live Project Programs, Leadership lecture series, Skill enhancement workshops, external mentoring program, CSR, Cultural exchanges,� Internships and creating employable opportunities at large.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Amrut Phalguni Mohanty, Programme officer IIM highlighted the importance of such industrial visits in strengthening the exposure of students. He also added that IIM Sambalpur is looking forward for further follow-up projects in future in association with Vedanta Limited, Jharsuguda.
