Forest Fire Prevention & Awareness Programme Held for Second Day in Bagdihi Forest Range

Jharsuguda: As part of ongoing efforts to prevent forest fires and promote environmental awareness, the Bagdihi Forest Range under the Jharsuguda Forest Division conducted a second-day forest fire prevention and awareness programme across several forest protection committees and villages.

Under the supervision of Bagdihi Forest Range Officer Dr. Sushree Bandana Pasayat, awareness activities were organised through traditional cultural programmes (Pala) to educate local communities on the dangers of forest fires and the importance of forest conservation. The campaign carried a strong message: “If a house burns, there is a place to go—but if the forest burns, where will we go?”

The awareness programmes were successfully held in villages and forest protection committee areas including Bhimjor, Deopan, Banki, Pakelakhol, Barpan, and Malti under the Bagdihi Section. The initiative focused on preventing forest fires during the current fire-prone season and encouraged villagers to actively participate in safeguarding forest resources.

The programme witnessed the presence of Forest Range Officer Bandana Pasayat, Section Foresters Harendra Sahu and Murari Sahu, Team Leader Chudamani Behera, Forest Guards Sonirani Das, Satyabrata Sahu, Rajkishore Panigrahi, DIO CDL Satyasmita Behera, DIO NRM Bhakti Jena, along with other staff of the Bagdihi Forest Range, who extended full cooperation in making the programme successful.

The Forest Department reiterated its appeal to local communities to remain vigilant and work collectively to prevent forest fires and protect the environment for future generations.
