Jharsuguda : Mid-winter fowl Census was carried out under the overall coordination of Hirakud Wildlife division. Jharsuguda division carried out the census in 8 sectors out of a total of 16 sectors in the Hirakud reservoir.
In this, around 20 forest staffs from the ACF to the Beat Guard, along with 16 bird watchers and wildlife photographers carried out the exercise. As per preliminary reports, 51+ unique species have been spotted. For context, India has nearly 1350 species of birds.
