Flights for Kolkata, Vizag, Bengaluru and Chennai to start soon from VSS Airport
Jharsuguda :�Veer Surendra Sai (VSS)Airport, Jharsuguda will now connect to Vizag, Chennai, and Bengaluru. Spice Jet Airlines is expected to introduce a new flight for the same from 10th July onwards.
Jharsuguda Airport Director Sandip Kumar Tiwari said, �Spicejet Airlines will introduce a new flight for sectors i.e., Kolkata, Vizag, Bengaluru, and Chennai. This flight will arrive in Jharsuguda from Kolkata at 11:40 am and at 12:10 pm it will depart for Visakhapatnam then it will connect to Bengaluru which will run 4 days a week, while it will also connect to Chennai which will run on 3 days a week. Upon returning, the flight will arrive in Jharsuguda at 8:25 pm from Vizag and will depart to Kolkata at 8:55 pm. The Proposal has been accepted and slots have been approved, while the ticketing for this flight will start soon by the airlines. It will be a Q400 Aircraft type.�
Previously, the flight connectivity to Kolkata, Bengaluru, and Chennai was withdrawn due to some technical reasons. Since then, the local air travelers of Western Odisha were finding great difficulty to reach Bengaluru, which is an IT Capital and also an education hub.
�For me,�it�s very good news, as we finally got connectivity to my home town Jharsuguda, without air connectivity it was very difficult to reach my place in less time. I just hope that the flight’s connectivity to Bengaluru will remain always and not withdrawn as earlier.� Said Deepak Swain, an IT Engineer working in a private software firm in Bengaluru.
Presently, Spicejet Airlines has daily flights for Hyderabad and Delhi sectors, whereas Alliance Air has daily flights for Bhubaneswar and Kolkata sectors.
