3 people including Jewellery shop owner held for allegedly beating staff to death
JHARSUGUDA : Three people including a Jewellery Shop owner were arrested on Monday for allegedly beating his staff to death after his staff stole gold ornaments worth Rs. 60 lakhs
Police identified the three accused Navneet (29), the Jewellery Shop Owner and his Meghnath Patel & Mahendra Kisan
The deceased employee was identified as Suresh Pandey, a resident of Dahya, Maheswar Pinda Roxa Dist. Boudh
As per the report, the deceased Suresh Pandey was working as a sales man at Jharsuguda based Jewellery store Odissi Jewellery shop. He was the main person for taking care of opening and closing of stocks of the shop but on 9th August, while matching the stocks the shop owner found that gold ornaments worth Rs. 60 Lakhs were missing and had filed a complained at Jharsuguda police station.
On 9th August, another Complaint was filed by Kaushalaya Pandey, the mother of deceased Suresh Pandey and alleged that her son was assaulted by the shop owner and staffs, as results his sons had received injuries on his body.
Later police had taken him to conduct medical test, where he became serious and was shifted to VIMSAR, Burla, where he succumbed to death on 14th August afternoon.
Jharsuguda SDPO Nirmal Mohapatra said, “Two cases have been registered at Jharsuguda Police station, in first case, Suresh Pandey, who use to work with Odissi Jewellers, had stolen away the Jewellery ornaments on various period and had taken loan against them. After the complaint given by the Shop Owner, a case was registered under 408 IPC. After learning of theft, the shop owner and staffs had assaulted Suresh Pandey, he had several injury marks on his body. Subsequently, another case has been registered based on the complained filed by the deceased mother Kaushalya Pandey, against the Shop Owner and staffs for assaulting the deceased Suresh Pandey. After that, we had sent him for conducting Medical, however, his condition worsened and he was referred to VIMSAR, Burla but while treatment, he succumbed to his injury on 14th August. Based on complained filed by the deceased mother, we have arrested three people including the shop owner of the Jewellery shop. Both cases are still under investigation.”
