First Ever Men’s Rights Meet at Odisha held by SIFF
Jharsuguda : Save Indian Family Foundation (SIFF) is India’s leading Men’s Rights Activist
organization. It was founded in 2005. Since then SIFF and its volunteers have
worked to change and amend many laws. SIFF is organizing first ever Men’s Rights
Meet at Jharsuguda, Odisha on 23-24th, October, 2021.
More than 35 participants from various states like Odisha, Chattisgarh, Jharkhand,
Bihar, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, and Maharashtra are expected to attend.
SIFF was founded because of arrest and imprisonment of lakhs of men and
women in false dowry cases during 2003-2005.
Every year, lakhs of men are denied access to their children, if they have marital
problems. This is severe torture for these men and many men suffer from serious
mental ailments or commit suicide due to such policies by the Govt. It is as if a
crime that he decided to get married and have a child.
While Govt and political parties are only focusing on empowerment and safety on
women, there is nothing done to protect men, who are vulnerable and who are
facing injustice. In fact, Govt polices further harm the male victims of domestic
violence and false cases.
According to Raja Panda, SIFF’s coordinator in Odisha, “It is a crime to be born a
man in India. It is a crime for a man to get married. It is even a bigger crime for a
man to become father of a child. Using Article 15(3) of constitution, Govt has
been making many policies and enacting many laws that effectively make men
second citizens in India.”
