United Nations Development Programme’s (UNDP) prestigious SDG Special Humanitarian Action Award has honored Sonu Sood for his immense work during the coronavirus pandemic.
It was thought that the UNDP had conferred the award, but the UN organization released a statement denying the claim.
UNDP presented the award at a virtual ceremony on September 29.
Expressing his happiness, the actor wrote, “This is a rare honour. A UN recognition is very special. I have done whatever little I have done, in my own humble way, for my fellow countrymen without any expectations. However, to be recognized and awarded feels good. I fully support the UNDP in its endeavours to achieve the SDGs by 2030. Planet Earth and mankind will greatly benefit from the implementation of these goals,”.
The actor joined the list of renowned actors like Priyanka Chopra, Leonardo DiCaprio, Angelina Jolie, David Beckham, Emma Watson, Liam Neeson, Cate Blanchett, Antonio Banderas, and Nicole Kidman.
After the announcement, wishes started pouring from all over the world. The actor also received a heartfelt desire from Priyanka.
The actress wrote, “Congratulations @SonuSood. So well deserved! You continue to do God’s work and it’s so inspiring to see.
