Noted poet Jayanarayan Tripathy passes away
Jharsuguda : Former member of the Odisha Sahitya Akademy and a well-known poet Jayanarayana Tripathy passed away on Saturday morning at his residence Nalini Niwas, Sarbahal, Jharsuguda. He was of 81 years old.
Jayanarayana was born on 25th April 1939 in the village of Sripura located on the banks of the Bheden River in Sambalpur district. He began his career in the postal service. He had a passion for writing since his student life and continued throughout his life.
There are six collections of poems entitled “Nirmalya,” “Guptalila”, “Antardaha”,” Bibartana “, “Sammohana” and “Naibedya,” along with unpublished manuscripts. He was felicitated by the Odisha Sahitya Akademy and the Utkal Sahitya Samaj, Jharsuguda branch and other institutions for his outstanding works in Odia literature.
Poet Jayanarayana Tripathy’s first collection of poems (Nirmalya) was published in 1997, after which his poetic talent came into light. He had been praised by various literary fanatics for his writing. His writings have been published in many newspapers and magazines.
He was honoured by the Annapurna Award in Keonjhar, the Gyan Pushpa Award, the Gyan Deep Award, Seva Shri Award, Kalinga Award, Gaurav Award, the Prabhataranga Award, the Singha Dwara Award, Gandhagiri Award, the New Delhi Indian Dalit Sahitya Akademy Fellowship and also admired by the Panchasasani Brahmin Samaj and also by Odisha Sahitya Akademi on the occasion of 150th birth anniversary of the great poet Gangadhar Meher. He was also honoured on the occasion of the formation of Utkal Sahitya Samaj, Jharsuguda branch.
His published works are (Nirmalya,1997), (Gupta Leela,2002), ( Antaradah,2009), (Bibartana, 2012) (Sammohan, 2015) and others.
