SPICEJET AIRLINES LIKELY TO START FLIGHT SERVICES BY MARCH 31st
Jharsuguda : The flight services from Veer Surendra Sai Airport, Jharsuguda is likely to take off under the third phase of ‘Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik� (UDAN 3.0) scheme. On Saturday, eight member officials of Spice jet airlines visited Veer Surendra Sai (VSS) Airport, Jharsuguda and had reviewed the facilities and Safety arrangement of the airport for starting its flight operations by March 31.
Spice jet airlines had recently bagged three major routes to Delhi, Kolkata and Hyderabad from Jharsuguda airport under UDAN 3.0 scheme.
“Safety audit team of Spice jet have come to check the safety arrangements along with the facilities available at this airport, whether is it sufficient or nor or they requires more facilities. The tentative schedule for starting their services for all the three routes by March 31st. For Jharsuguda � Delhi Boeing 737, type aircraft will operate and Bombadier Q400 type aircraft whose seating capacity is around 78 will operate for Jharsuguda – Kolkata and Jharsuguda � Hyderabad. Subsequently, Alliance Air, the second airlines is also likely to visit by next month to start their operation. By March I, think all the services will start their operations.” said S. K. “We have come to do the safety assessment initially and looking after the facilities available at this place after that we will submit a report to the company, based on which they will start the operations.” said Awdhesh Kumar, Engineer, Spicejet
It is pertinent to mention here that, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had inaugurated the Jharsuguda airport in September 22nd 2018 and had also flagged off Flights Services under UDAN Scheme.
But the Service provider Air Odisha had suspended its flight operation and stopped its operation unexpectedly and the Union Civil Aviation Ministry had cancelled the license of Air Odisha for failing to operate minimum scheduled flights in the month of November, last year
