Three arrested for murder of a 46-year-old Woman�
Jharsuguda:�Jharsuguda Police on� Sunday arrested three people including a woman for allegedly involved in murdering of a 46-year-old woman and throwing the dead body into Mahanadi river at Rampella Bridge.
The deceased was identified as Shubasini Pradhan (46), a resident of Adhijhara, Lakhanpur
The accused were identified as Shantilata Sahu (47) and her husband, Khirod Sahu (50), both resident of Ekatali, Jharsuguda and one Md. Afzal Ali (30), a resident of Tata Gali, Mangal Bazaar, Jharsuguda.
As per the police, on 15th November, a missing complaint of the 46-year-old woman, Subhasini Pradhan was lodged at BTM Police outpost under Jharsuguda Police station by the deceased sister Pankajini Pradhan and later on 16th November, a dead body of a woman was fished out near the Rampella bridge, by the Banharpalli Police. The dead body was identified by the deceased sister Pankajini, who later filed an FIR on 23rd November at Jharsuguda Police station.
Later, Jharsuguda Police registered a case and investigated the matter and found that the main reason behind the murder of the deceased Subhasini Pradhan was for superstition. The main accused Shantilata Sahu and her husband both believed that Shubasini was the main culprit behind the accident of their only daughter Deepa Sahu who died in a car accident, while returning from Bhubaneswar alone, in the year 2015. They believed she had done some superstition on her daughter due to which her daughter died.
On 11th November, with a help of one Md. Afzal Ali, Shantilata Sahu and her husband Khirod had killed Subhasini at night with a hammer and later, the trio threw the dead body into Rampella bridge.
Jharsuguda SDPO, K.C. Acharya said, “We have arrested all the three accused who were involved in this murder case and have seized a hammer used in the crime, gold chain and earrings �of the deceased along with the seizure of brand new car used in the crime.”
