BJD observes 4-hour Bandh against the closure of Kalma barrage gates by Chhattisgarh
Jharsuguda: Normal life was thrown out of gear at Jharsuguda district following 4-hour bandh observed by ruling BJD to protest against the closure of Kalma barrage gates by Chhattisgarh.
Due to Bandh, most of the shops and establishments remained closed along with the vehicular movement on SH -10, which was halted. Several passengers who were travelling through Bus had to face difficulties.� BJD Supporters had picketed at various places like Dharamshala Chowk, Station Chowk and Bus-stand in Jharsuguda.
Jharsuguda BJD Dist. President Kishor Mohanty said, “Chhattisgarh Government, has stopped the flow of water by constructing nearly ten barrages on the upper stream of Mahanadi. Due to which, downstream of Mahanadi have been severely affected. After repeated plea for the opening of barrages Neither Central nor Chhattisgarh Government has not been listening to the genuine demands of the people of �Odisha who are largely dependent on this river. In coming times this agitation will be more aggressive. “
