Heavy Showers lashes the District , high velocity winds damages electric poles
Jharsuguda: Heavy showers lashed most of the parts of Jharsuguda District on Monday afternoon accompanied by high velocity winds and lighting. These strong velocity winds which remained for about half an hour had swept the region and caused heavy damages to houses and electrical poles. Power lines at Sahapada, Sarbahal, H.Kantapali, Kirmira , Kolabira and its adjoining areas were badly affected. Even the outdoor hoarding was uprooted causing heavy damages. �I have incurred nearly 2 lakhs loss in this storm� says Suresh More, an outdoor media owner.
Apart from Jharsuguda other areas Brajrajnagar, Belpahar, Kolabira, Kirmira and its adjoining areas had also�reported damages.�33 KV Jharsuguda Unit 1 feeder transmission lines have been damaged due to which the several areas of the town remained in dark. Even a 33 KV line feeder transmission lines which connects to Laikera Kirmira and Kolabira has also been affected. ��Asbestos of my house were flown away, due to which all rain waters have entered my house,� says Sanjay Panigrahi of Badmal
Many electrical poles have been uprooted due to which several parts of the town plunged into darkness.�SDO Electrical Rashmi Ranjan Jena said that �More than 50 electrical poles have been uprooted and still the patrolling is going on to find more faults. However we are trying to restore it as soon as possible. All our engineers are at Job.�
