National Sports Day Celebrated , Major Dhyan Chand Remembered
Jharsuguda : Jharsuguda administration and public paid tribute to the greatest hockey player ever in the country, the legendary Major Dhyan Chand . In this occasion , students of various government school like Sarbhal Govt. Boys School , Govt. Girls high School , Beheramal High school had participated in a rally was organised which was led by Dist. Athletic officer Sushil Mishra. This rally was organised from Collectrate office to Behermal where ADM Mr. Rabindra Mishra had flagged off this rally from collect orate at 8 P.M. in the morning.
Major Dhyan Chand was remembered for his greatest contribution in our National Sport �Hockey� of our country and this day is being celebrated as the Indian National Sports Day. Major Dhyan Chand Singh popularly known as �The Wizard� was one of the greatest field hockey players in the world. His passion for hockey brought India 3 consecutive Olympic gold medals in years 1928, 1932 and 1936. Having scored more than 400 goals during his international career. He scored over 1000 goals in his career, from 1926 to 1948. Dhyan Chand was also known as ‘Hockey Ka Jadugar’.
