Inner Wheel of Jharsuguda pearl distributes free medicine at Sahapada School

Jharsuguda : Inner Wheel of Jharsuguda Pearl , the women wing of Rotary club of Jharsuguda Royal  distributed free medicine to the students of Kalupatra Primary School near Sahapada.

In this occassion , even the District Chairman Mrs. Sapna Jaiswal aong with District Editor Krishna Mohnaty had visited and conducted a meeting at Hotel Crown. Mrs. Jaiswal had appreciated the work done by Mrs. Archana Badhan , the president of Jharsuguda Inner Wheel and discussed on various projects taken by the club.

The Club had organised various competiton at this school recently for which the prizes were distributed on Thursday. Along with the free distribution of Pox Prevention which was being given by Dr. Deoshlok Sharma.  The Club vowed to make more contribution to the school in near future.

Lions Club donates Inverter on the occasion of Children’s Day

Jharsuguda : On the Occasion of Children’s Day, members of Lions Club of Jharsuguda donated “Inverter” to Govt. Girls High School on Thursday. This was handed over by the Club President Ln. S.K. Subhnil.

In this occasion Senior member of Lions Club Bal Govind Mishra, Chandra Kishore Kedia, Hazi Abdul Hamid, Madhumita Subhnil , Vandana Patel, Smt. Dani, Jyoti Lata  along with the School students and teachers were also present in this function. Students of the School had also presented a Cultural function in this occasion. The Principal of Smt. OPGC Conducts awareness programme on health, hygiene and environment protection for Tilia school children

Jharsuguda : In continuation of the initiatives to improve the health, hygiene and environment in the periphery villages, OPGC conducted an awareness programme on ‘Health, Hygiene & Environment Protection’ at Tulsi Sahu High School in Tilia village today.  More than 350 students of Tulsi Sahu High School and Nodal Upper Primary School in Tilia were covered under this programme. To begin with a poster & slogan-writing competition on the theme of health, hygiene and environment protection was organised in Senior (Class 7th to 10th) and Junior (Class 1st to 6th) categories. All the 350 students, both boys and girls, participated enthusiastically in the competition. Top three winners of each category were felicitated with prizes by OPGC authority.

As the next event, house-keeping & plantation was organised. OPGC CSR team, members of ITPS ladies club, school managing committee, teachers, and school children performed cleaning of school and hostel premises and planted saplings inside the campus.

In the afternoon, an orientation programme on health, hygiene and environment protection was held for the school children. Chief Medical officer of ITPS hospital Dr. Bijaylal Biswal counselled the students on the health & hygiene, common diseases and their remedies.

Members of OPGC CSR team Dr. Dilip Sebak, Mr Manbodh Padhan, Ms Madhumita Prasad, Mr Parbinder Singh, Mr Abani Nayak and Mr Sashi Bhusan Dash organised the event with the help of ITPS ladies club members Ms Alok Nandini Rath, Ms Nibedita Priyadarsini, Ms Jashobanti Choudhury Ms Nirupama Behera , Ms Jyoshna Nayak and Ms Sarmistha Sahu.

Brajrajnagar:66th Independence day was celebrated by Veer Surendra Sai Club with the old villagers of Bagharachaka at VSS club, Bagharachaka, Brajrajnagar. The event started after a flag hosting ceremony held at 10 am. by Sri Champet Lal Sai.

Mr. Suresh Barik, Upendra Majhi, Biranchi Panda state few words towards the martyrs of this nation to their tribute.The Chief guest of the function Anup Sai, MLA of Brajrajnagar and local forester Arakhita Pradhan planted trees along the road side from VSS Club to Amdarah road along with VSS Club President Prakash Kumar Ray and Gen.Sec. Chandan Kumar Ray with Chintamani Meher, Basudev Dash, Ranjan Ray, Prahallad Sahu, Munu Luhar, Biki Suren, Bidesh Sa, Pappu Rai, Dushmanta Sa, Babulal Meher, Sangram Sai, Luku Meher, Hutasan Meher, Nirakar Bag, Sunil Sa, Prafulla Khadia, Bilsan Tappo, and others.

Rotary Club of Jharsuguda Royals donates Bench and Chairs at UGME School, Sarbahal

Jharsuguda: Around 50 Bench cum Chairs were donated by Rotary Club of Jharsuguda Royals in a function held at UGME School, Sarbahal on Wednesday.

The Chief Guest of the function Addl. Dist. Magistrate Bibhuti Bhusan Behera , Guest of Hounor Past. Dist. Governor Rtn. Dr. Ashok Singh, along with Chairman of the School Committee and Head Mistress Smt. Padmini Dora were present. The meeting was presided over by Rtn. Suresh Tulshyan

ADM Bibhuti Bhusan Behera appreciated such types of social intiatives taken by the members of Rotary Club of Jharsuguda Royal.

As per the Rotary Members, The Bench and Chairs were manufactured by the Rotarian Members with an estimated cost of 1.75 Lakhs and were donated to Class V, VI and VIII.

In this function, President of Rotary Club Rtn. Anil Kedia, Secretary Rtn. Harshit Modi, Members from Barisht Nagarik Sangh  Arjun More , Bal Govind Mishra, Bhola Badhan, Mahendra Kedia , Pratap Behera, along with several other Rotarians were present in this occasion.

Medical Health Checkup Camp at Kukurjangha by Concast Steel and Power Limited

Jharsuguda : A medical health check up camp was organised on Sunday by Concast  Steel and Power Limited at Kukurjangha Village . In this camp  free distribution of medicine was done benefiting nearly 300 villagers. In this Camp Dr. Zia-ul-Haq and Dr. Mahana along with Concast company official R.K. Singh (H.R. Head) , D. Nayak , Jayanta Nanda & Saikat Deb.

Vedanta kicked off massive plantation drive under ‘Project Green Jharsuguda’

Jharsuguda:  On the occasion of Vana Mohotshav Week, Vedanta Jharsuguda today initiated a special afforestation drive with children of DAV School here at Jharsuguda. It was the flag off event for a massive community based plantation drive to be launched under ‘Project Green Jharsuguda’ .The project was launched in the year 2008 by CSR arm of VAL.  Children and VAL employee planted more than 100 saplings today in school premises and pledged their commitment to this cause for a lifetime. With this a series of such events partnering many schools and communities is set to be rolled out in coming days.

So far, under ‘Project Green Jharsuguda’ a total of more than 2.5 lakhs plants have been planted by VAL in community space and within its premises till date. VAL has an ambitious plan of planting 80,000 more trees this year in and around its periphery. Interestingly, it has successfully planted and retained more than 60,000 plants partnering local community, district administration and local NGO’s through PPP mode at Beherapat and Lahandabud areas of Jharsuguda.

Mega workshop on Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan

Jharsuguda: A workshop on promoting construction of individual household toilets under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Assurance (MG-NREGA) scheme and Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan Scheme was held at Kolabira Block under Jharsuguda District on Wednesday. This workshop was organized by Dist. Administration.

The workshop was attended by 1488 including members of Panchayati Raj Institution,  Samiti Members , Sarpanch, Ward Members, Aganwadi, ASHA workers, Mansion along with local villagers, where the advantages of Open Defecation Free (ODF) village and its impact on the health and hygiene of people in general and children in particular were discussed.

Dist. Collector Said that “In this project around 10,000 toilets will be constructed and currently in first phase we have identified around 2,000 households for this project. Under this scheme the unit cost of Individual Household Laterine (IHL) is Rs. 10,000 out of which 9,100 will be provided by Govt. and rest Rs. 900 will be borne by the beneficiary either in cash or in form of labour. ”

This workshop was inaugurated by Jharsuguda MLA Naba Kishore Das in presence of Dist. Collector Niranjan Sahu and other Govt. officials.
