OPGC distributes life jacket for travellers crossing Hirakud reservoir on boat

Jharsuguda : OPGC (Orissa Power Generation Corporation) today distributed fifty life jackets  at the Tilia Ghat for the safety of travellers who commute daily to and from Sambalpur crossing Hirakud reservoir on boats.

Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) team of OPGC lead by Umakant Pahi, Head (EHS) reached at the ghat early in the morning and briefed the passengers and boat operators on the usefulness of life jacket in saving lives.

Safety of each and every individual working in OPGC is the primary goal and it is the first and foremost of a set of values we follow at OPGC, Mr. Pahi said. “With this small step of providing life jackets, we want to expand and propagate our values by setting an example so that more agencies come forward to help saving lives of people who do such risky journey”, he said.

Sarat Chandra Nayak, Dy. Manager (EHS) gave a demonstration on the use of life jacket and advised the boat operators to ensure use of these jackets by the passengers. Later each passenger was given a life jackets each to wear before boarding the boat.

The jackets shall be in the custody of the boat operators who shall ensure use of those by passengers every time. Among others, Mr. Rahul Dev, Dy. Manager (Environment), Mr. Nitya Kar, Asst. Manager(EHS), Mr. Sudhir Behera, Asst. Manager(Administration), Mr. Prashant Hota and Mr. Maheswar Prusty joined from OPGC.

BTM Jagannath Mandir Prathista Utsav from 26th April onwards

Jharsuguda : Newly constructed BTM Jagannath Mandir Prathista Utsav wouls start from 26th April onwards, this was informed in a press conference held by the members of the Temple Committee on Sunday evening. As per the programme given 26th April would have Ankur Rupan , 27th will be Jal yatra , 28th will be Surya Pujan and 29th April will be Purna ahuti. All these days from 26th – 29th April. The puja will commence from morning 7 AM to 9 PM. For this function, the temple members had pleaded Gajapati Raja to come be a part of this utsav but due to some unavoidable work , he is unable to be present in this auspicious event.

However, Puri’s Shri Acharya Surjaya Narayan Das and Jhanja’s Pita Matha’s Shri Sachinanda Maharaj will come and deliver the Parwachan.

This temple took around 12 years to be constructed. Earlier, here in BTM Lord Jagannath was being worshiped in a small Quarter . The Temple Committee members Mohan Chandra Bhol, S.N. Paschayat, Bijay Ch. Das, Naresh Singh (President) , Satrughan Parida and Keshav Dhala were present in the Press Conference.

Eagle Group dedicate their Holiday to serve commuters


Jharsuguda : As the Industrial town is getting hotter and hotter day by day, its making life difficult to the commuters to travel from one place to other in this Hot Sunny Day. The members of Eagle Group being an employee of an Pvt. firm had dedicated their holiday for serving people on Sunday.

Around 15 members of this Group had opened Jal Chatra Programme (Water Shed) near Radhamadhab Temple , Beheramal. The President of the Radha Madhab Temple trust had serve the people with cold Butter Milk and Cold Jaljeera Water to the Commuters.


Lions Club of Jharsuguda Organises Free Mineral Bone Density Check

Eagle Group Child Carnival Celebrated on Sunday


Jharsuguda : Eagle Group, on Sunday organised a Mega Child Carnival 2K15 specially for the disabled children s and Orphans of Jharsuguda and Sundergarh Dist.

During this Carnival , a seminar cum awareness program on child health, child education, child rights was organised. On this occasion, Jharsuguda ADM Braja Gopal Acharya, was the Chief Guest along with  DPC Smt. Minarani Mangal, Baristha Nagarika Sangha’s  Latit Mohan Das, CWC Janmajaya Das and Group mentor G. G. Pal were present and gave their valuable feedback on this Nobel cause to serve the society.

Participants from  six  special schools, Thakkarbapa Sevasadan, Belpahar, Special School, Brundamal, District Disabled School, Budapada, Asha Kiran School, Cox Colony, Banavasi Chhatravasa,  Sundargarh, Manurbhaba Ashram, Bhasma had participated and showcased their talents and future development like livelihood and higher education.

 An exhibition of handcrafts made by the special children were also inaugurated by ADM Braj Gopal Acharya.

In the evening, prizes were awarded to all the participants for their extreme talents and a joyful, energetic cultural program.

From the Eagle group,  President Himadri Sekhar Pradhan, Secretary Pradyumna Sahu, Group Advisor Anil Satpathy and BSC Srinivas and coordinator Rakesh Sahoo and several members of the group had actively participated in this event.



6Jharsuguda : More than 450 Community Based Organizations of 78 Panchayats of Sundergarh and Jharsuguda districts came together under one platform the ‘Loka Sangathan Utsav’ here to raise voice towards ensuring livelihood of 2, 40,000 poor people.

There are different schemes and programmes such as MGNREGA, Forest Rights Act and Food Security Act have been introduced by Govt from time to time, which benefits are yet to reach the poor and marginalized, expressed by the leaders of the community based organizations during the Utsav.

Inaugurating the two days long Lokutsav, Jharsuguda District Collector Jharsuguda Mr. Parameswaram  B  said that the MGNREGA is revolutionary initiative taken by Government towards poverty alleviation of rural poor through secured livelihood generation. The Forest Committee formed in 161 villages which is promoting secure land and forest rights of Adivasi forest dwellers, he further added.

Ms. Lilli Kumari Kullu, OAS -1 (SB), APD, DRDA commended the efforts made by the CBO leaders in making the rights and entitlements reaching the targeted beneficiaries. The State Programme Head of PACS, Shri Sashikant Malick delivered the keynote address and Dr. Kumar Prasant spoke about the constructive, positive role played by the CBOs are to be accelerated in future days for the betterment of rural poor. Among others, Father Nicholas Barla and Father Sahaya Raj also spoke about the forest rights of the Dalit and Adivasis.

In this two days event, representatives from 288 Village Forest Rights Committee, Village Development Committee of Kunwarmunda, Lathikata, Bisra and Nugaon blocks of Sundargarh District and Lakhanpur, Kirmira and Kolabira blocks of Jharsuguda district  will participate and present their opinion about the activities conducted in the sector of MGNREGA, health and Education sector through the village level CBOs under PACS (DFID) program intervention. Shri Prasanna Kumar Lima, Programme Officer (PACS) extended vote of thanks.

Blood Donation Camp Held by Matrisangha Janakalyan Ashram


Jharsuguda : A Blood Donation Camp on the occasion of 97th Birthday of Gurudev Sudin Kumar Mitra, the founder of Matrisangha Janakalyan Ashram was organised on Sunday , 22nd Feb. at Pandripathar near Power House Road. This was organised by Ujjal Chatterjee. During this Camp , the organiser even distributed fruits and books to the needy students nearby.


Swachh Bharat Abhiyan at Kukurjangha primary school by Eagle Group


Jharsuguda : Eagle group organized a Swachha Bharat Abhiyan program at  Kukurjangha primary school near Concast steel plant, Badamal, Jharsuguda on 29th Jan’15 . In this the members along with the school children’s had jointly participated for cleaning school surrounding campus.

In this the members had distributed Chocolates & Pens to children, School headmaster, Teachers, Staffs and village people who also actively helped in this program.

Group president Himadri Sekhar Pradhan & Accountant Nagen Mahapatra along with other group members were present in this program .

Young Star Club distributes fruits blankets to Poor


Jharsuguda : Members of Young Star Club on 27th January had visited Leprosy Colony and had distributed fruits nad blankets to the poor on the occasion of the 4th foundation day of Young Star Club. In this function YSC President Er. Arabinda Ku. Barik, G.S  Shankar Sethi , Santosh Sethi (Vice President)  Bijay saigal (Advisor) along with club members Pinku Seth. Prasanta Bhainsa , Debasish Bhainsa,  Kamleswer Rout, Anand Saigal club director Fakir Mohan Barik. In this function  Rajkumar Panigrahi and Praytus Padhee  were the guest.

OPGC conducts free health at Baghamunda village


IB Thermal : Odisha Power Generation Corporation conducted a free health camp at Baghamunda village of Lakhanpur block on Saturday, 20th December, 2014 . The camp started at 10am at the Baghamunda school and continued till 5.00 pm in the evening. Total 487 patients from villages such as Baghamunda, Govindpur, Singarpur, Beheramal, Bijapali, Samarbaga and Limaintikira took the benefit of this health camp. Patients were checked up for various ailments like Hypertension, Diabetes Mellitus, Cataract of eye etc. They were provided with medical advice and free medicine.  Chief Medical Officer of IB Thermal hospital Dr. Bijaylal Biswal and Dr. M R Panigrahi along with invited doctors Dr.K.B.Panda, Dr.Ekanta Panda, Dr.Snigdha Rout (Dentist)treated the patients. Members of ITPS ladies club Ms Nibedita Priyadarsini Pahi, Ms Alok Nandini Ratha, Ms Mili Singh and Ms Champabati Buda extended their support in registering the incoming patients and guiding them to throughout the camp. Mr Damodar Nayak of ITPS hospital supervised the event smoothly along with other staff of ITPS hospital Ms. Rita James, Ms. Deepikarani Mishra, Ms. Manorama Meher, Mr. Amiya Pradhan, Mr. Suresh Chandan, Mr. Karna Bag and Mr. Jagdish Bisal
