Jharsuguda : Members of Young Star Club on 27th January had visited Leprosy Colony and had distributed fruits nad blankets to the poor on the occasion of the 4th foundation day of Young Star Club. In this function YSC President Er. Arabinda Ku. Barik, G.S Shankar Sethi , Santosh Sethi (Vice President) Bijay saigal (Advisor) along with club members Pinku Seth. Prasanta Bhainsa , Debasish Bhainsa, Kamleswer Rout, Anand Saigal club director Fakir Mohan Barik. In this function Rajkumar Panigrahi and Praytus Padhee were the guest.
Jharsuguda : More than 450 Community Based Organizations of 78 Panchayats of Sundergarh and Jharsuguda districts came together under one platform the ‘Loka Sangathan Utsav’ here to raise voice towards ensuring livelihood of 2, 40,000 poor people.
There are different schemes and programmes such as MGNREGA, Forest Rights Act and Food Security Act have been introduced by Govt from time to time, which benefits are yet to reach the poor and marginalized, expressed by the leaders of the community based organizations during the Utsav.
Inaugurating the two days long Lokutsav, Jharsuguda District Collector Jharsuguda Mr. Parameswaram B said that the MGNREGA is revolutionary initiative taken by Government towards poverty alleviation of rural poor through secured livelihood generation. The Forest Committee formed in 161 villages which is promoting secure land and forest rights of Adivasi forest dwellers, he further added.
Ms. Lilli Kumari Kullu, OAS -1 (SB), APD, DRDA commended the efforts made by the CBO leaders in making the rights and entitlements reaching the targeted beneficiaries. The State Programme Head of PACS, Shri Sashikant Malick delivered the keynote address and Dr. Kumar Prasant spoke about the constructive, positive role played by the CBOs are to be accelerated in future days for the betterment of rural poor. Among others, Father Nicholas Barla and Father Sahaya Raj also spoke about the forest rights of the Dalit and Adivasis.
In this two days event, representatives from 288 Village Forest Rights Committee, Village Development Committee of Kunwarmunda, Lathikata, Bisra and Nugaon blocks of Sundargarh District and Lakhanpur, Kirmira and Kolabira blocks of Jharsuguda district will participate and present their opinion about the activities conducted in the sector of MGNREGA, health and Education sector through the village level CBOs under PACS (DFID) program intervention. Shri Prasanna Kumar Lima, Programme Officer (PACS) extended vote of thanks.
Jharsuguda : Eagle Group, on Sunday organised a Mega Child Carnival 2K15 specially for the disabled children s and Orphans of Jharsuguda and Sundergarh Dist.
During this Carnival , a seminar cum awareness program on child health, child education, child rights was organised. On this occasion, Jharsuguda ADM Braja Gopal Acharya, was the Chief Guest along with DPC Smt. Minarani Mangal, Baristha Nagarika Sangha’s Latit Mohan Das, CWC Janmajaya Das and Group mentor G. G. Pal were present and gave their valuable feedback on this Nobel cause to serve the society.
Participants from six special schools, Thakkarbapa Sevasadan, Belpahar, Special School, Brundamal, District Disabled School, Budapada, Asha Kiran School, Cox Colony, Banavasi Chhatravasa, Sundargarh, Manurbhaba Ashram, Bhasma had participated and showcased their talents and future development like livelihood and higher education.
An exhibition of handcrafts made by the special children were also inaugurated by ADM Braj Gopal Acharya.
In the evening, prizes were awarded to all the participants for their extreme talents and a joyful, energetic cultural program.
From the Eagle group, President Himadri Sekhar Pradhan, Secretary Pradyumna Sahu, Group Advisor Anil Satpathy and BSC Srinivas and coordinator Rakesh Sahoo and several members of the group had actively participated in this event.
Jharsuguda: The first ever Mentor’s Trophy ‘Inter School Group Dance Championship’ organized by Sesa Sterlite Ltd. (Formerly Vedanta Aluminium Ltd.) came to an end on 24th December 2013, with St. Mary’s Convent School, Jharsuguda emerging as champions.
The occasion was also marked by and emotional atmosphere when Shri. Bijoy Mohanty , Odia Cine Icon was felicitated for his exceptional contribution over 35 years to Odia culture by Sesa on behalf of children and people of Jharsuguda.
‘With a view to encourage young talents in schools and to facilitate a befitting platform to schools to showcase their efforts for overall development of their children our company has initiated this cultural initiative and we feel elated that this annual event could provide platform to 12 lead schools from Jharsuguda and Sambalpur district and we expect many more schools to take part in future’ said Mr. Abhijit Pati, President and Chief Operating Officer of Sesa Sterlite.

In a grand event , the glittering ‘Mentor’s Trophy’ was ceremoniously brought to stage and was fiercely contested by some of the finest dance performances by the schools .In a scintillating neck to neck finale , finally St. Mary emerged as champions surpassing a brilliant display by Vikash Concept School , Sambalpur by a flicker.
In presence of jury comprising of Ranjan Das, V.Ramalakshmi , Deepali Choudhury and Ranjana Pati the event was witnessed by Principals, Teachers, parents, senior citizens, media fraternity, employees of Vedanta and members of social organisations of the region enhancing the external connect of the corporate on a different scale.
The other participating schools were DAV Public School, Jawahar Novodaya Vidyalaya,Govt. Girls High School , Govt. High School, Ghanshyam Hemlata Vidya Mandir, Town High School , VSS High School of Jharsuguda , BEM School , BR High School of Belpahad , and Delhi Public School from Sambalpur. The initiative was appreciated and welcomed by all sections of the society present on the occasions.
JHARSUGUDA : Social Organisation Matrisangha Janakalyan Ashram of Pandripathar on Sunday had celebrated Guru Purnima by organising various Social events like Blood Donation, Free Distribution of Books to the students.
Matrisangha Janakalyan Ashram, is an social organization located at Pandripathar. Its founder is Sudin Kumar Mitra. The Jharsuguda unit of this organisation is being looked by Ujjawal Chatterjee and his wife. This organisation mainly works to provide Free Stitching classes to the needy girls, Organising Blood Donation Camps , Solving problems of the villagers, Plantation of trees , Distribution of fruits to patients, free distribution of books, copy, pens, pencils and stipends to the poor and needy childrens,Distribution of clothes and blankets to the women and childrens, providing Medicines to the poor people.
On Sunday, around 65 students of Prasana Panda Sangha School , Power House School, Sarasmal School were given free books.
On this ocassion, Dr. Dolamani Patel, Tapas Ray Choudhary, Sapan Dutta, S.K. Sahoo, Sunil Chakraborty, Utpal Ghosh along with many others were present. A Cultural programme was being organised with support of Samal Ghosh, Purabi Dey and Ishita Ray Choudhary.
