Cancer Detection Camp Organized


Jharsuguda : A Cancer Detection camp was jointly organized by Fight against Cancer (An initiative of media Centre) and Jagyaseni Hospital . The Camp was inaugurated by Jharsuguda District Collector Bibhuti Bhusan Behera. In this camp around 72 people had participated .

In this, Dr. Ghanshaym Biswas, Senior oncologist, Dr. Rajesh Padhi, Dr. R.K. Joshi. along with the members of Lions Club of Jharsuguda, Vishwa Hindu Parisad and other were present.

Vedanta delivers Jharsuguda’s first multi-purpose reading room

Jharsuguda:  Vedanta Jharsuguda CSR initiatives has delivered a much coveted reading room project for the students and youth of the town. In order to facilitate and strengthen the educational outreach in the area, the company has established a multipurpose reading room and handed it to the district administration for operation in a function held on 10th August 2016 at Sarbahal High school Campus, Jharsuguda on Wednesday.

This proud initiative is the first of its kind to happen in the district of Jharsuguda. The reading room project, which kick-started with the support of local administration got successfully completed in a budget of Rs. 11.5 Lakhs. Considering the community’s reach, the reading room is built in Sarbahal High School Campus.

“It is a much appreciated initiative on the company’s part to have made such an effort so that the youth find enough facilities to educate themselves and polish their employability skills” said Dr. Sitaram Patel, ADM, Jharsuguda who graced the inauguration along with Mr. Bikash Chandra Pradhan , District Education officer, Jharsuguda. Also present were officials from Vedanta including J.K Mohanty, Vice-President Power, who represented the organization during the inaugural ceremony. He commented that “It feels proud to have put in such an effort which will help the communities in Jharsuguda to get informed and educated, which is of utmost importance in today’s scenario”.`

The facility was received with much appreciation and enthusiasm. Also promises were made to increase the scope of education and employability for the local youth.



Jharsuguda:  Vedanta inaugurated the first ‘Green Road’ to Jharsuguda made with Fly Ash on Wednesday. The construction of this road is also towards compliance of RPDAC commitment by Vedanta. With its ‘Waste to Wealth’ initiative the road with the length of 2.3kms from Banjari Village to Sarbhal was constructed utilizing 13,000 MT fly ash as a prime component. The design of the road was done by IIT, Bhubaneswar and the total cost of the road is around Rs 1.88 crores. The road, which will open a comfortable and easy commutation facility for the villagers will be of high significance.

In presence of villagers, Vedanta Officials, the road was inaugurated by Dr. Sitaram Patel, ADM, Jharsuguda. Present on the occasion was Mr. JK Mohanty, Vice-President Power, who represented the organization during the inaugural ceremony.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Patel who personally travelled the entire distance of the new road applauded Vedanta’s fulfillment of its commitment and expressed that many such innovative public infrastructure through fly ash is a possibility now .He also added that such efforts will be given full support by the administration and the community.

Representing Vedanta Ltd Jharsuguda, Mr. JK Mohanty thanked the district administration for their support and cooperation and expressed that more and more public infrastructure should include fly ash as key construction input as it is technology of today in waiting. The general public have expressed that this road will make life a little easier and lauded this effort of Vedanta to ensure this key community amenity.

Awareness program on Breast feeding Organised by Inner Wheel Club of Jharsuguda Pearl


Jharsuguda : Inner wheel club of Jharsuguda pearl had organised an awareness program on Breast feeding at Government Maternity Hospital. The members had distributed bread packets, Ajwain, protein powder packet to new mothers along with tips on healthy diet during lactation period and  its importance. This was done under the leadership of President Sheetal Agarwal,Secretary Nupur Singhania and Rekha Agarwal, Shirin Ul haq and Sarita Bindal .

Lions Club of Jharsuguda Fraternity host 26th District Cabinet Installation at Jharsuguda


Jharsuguda: 26th District Cabinet of Lions Club of District 322 c2 was held at Hotel Bishnu Palace at Beheramal. In this all the clubs under the district 322 c2 were present for this ceremony for two days event. In this Occasion Hon’ble Member of Parliament Baijayant Jay Panda who has graced the occasion as the chief Guest along with others dignitaries present like Ln. Ashok Kumar Jalan, Ln. Sanjay Sahu District Governor, Installation Officer Ln. Gurucharan Singh Hura, Ln. Brijmohan Agarwal.


Lions Club of Jharsuguda Titans donates Rs.5 Lakhs to Project Muktidham


Jharsuguda : In a event held on Friday evening, the members of Lions club of Jharsuguda Titans had donated Rs. 5 Lakhs for the Project Muktidham ( Beautification of Muktidham).

This Donation was generated by the members of the clud in a fund raiser, Ras Barse  ( An Kavi Sammelan) held on 26th March this year.

In this event , distinguished guest like Omprakash Poddar, Arjun lal More, Balgoivnd Mishra, Santosh Shah, Pratap Behera, Matadin Mundra , Sudhir Didwania, Anil Kedia , Vikas Badhan, Arun Mundra, Rajesh Agarwal, Sanju Khetan along with various others were present.

A Cheque of Rs. 5,00,559 Lakhs was handed over to the senior members of the society.

Charter President Asish Badhan said that, “Addition to the Project Muktidham another Project Moksh Dham along with the works for the approach road to Mukti Dham will be initiated. However the approach rood work has been started from 6th May 2016.”

He also added that the Project Moksh Dham will be beside the Marwari Talab.

Eagle Group’s child carnival 2016 concludes on Sunday


Jharsuguda : Eagle group, a social group had organised a child carnival 2016 at satsang bhawan  on the eve of 14th Feb along with 6 schools & orphans. Brundamal Special school, Jhadeswar special school, Manurbhava Ashram , Ashakiran, Banabasi Kalyan Ashram & Thakar Bapa Seva Sadan of Jharsuguda & Sundergarh District.

The main aim was to improve their lifestyle & future from bottom line to main stream line which is possible when people will help them by giving helping hands to them. A seminar was organised (open house discussion) with all NGO’s, Puja club, Educational Institutions , Govt officers & eminent person of the district.

At evening time , a cultural function was conducted by the school Children’s who later were awarded for their performances .

Vedanta honours Martyr’s families on Republic Day


Jharsuguda: Vedanta Ltd (formerly known as Sesa Sterlite) had felicitated family members of six Martyrs of Indian Armed Forces from the Western Odisha region on the eve of 67th Republic Day Celebration (Tuesday), who laid down their lives in line of duty. Lead by Mr. Abhijit Pati, CEO-Aluminium Business, Vedanta Ltd. the company felicitated the families with a citation and a financial assistance of Rs. 50,000 to the families.

Families of six martyrs who were felicitated were Late Sourya Chakra Sepoy Durga Charan Oram of village Palkuda of Deogarh, Late Naik Blacious Alexender Kujur of village Olhen, Rourkela, Late Naik Karobin Tirkey of village Pindapatha near Birmitrapur, Late Lancenaik Kishore Chandra Mallik of village Shibtola, Bolangir, Late Sepoi Lotem Kerketa of village the Thaitang, Sundergarh and Late Subedar Braja Kishore Naik of village Nuapali of Laida, Sambalpur.

In this function the Commodore KK Panda (Retd.) was the chief guest along with the Abhijit Pati and eminent senior citizen of Jharsuguda as Guest and the members of various Social Organization were also present.

Mr. Abhijit Pati said “The nation stand obliged to the great sacrifice of the martyrs and their families and hence we dedicated this day to them. All measures should be put in place to secure the future of such families including reservation for such families which should be given top priority as a special category. He urged upon corporate world to join hands to support more such families to secure their future.”

Dassendri Toppo, wife of late Sourya Chakra winner Lt. Sepoy Durga Charn Oram said, ‘I could not believe that even after so many years have passed by, someone could knock at my door to felicitate my husband’s martyrdom by honouring me.’ Nobody has done it like this before and I am touched by the recognition more the citation and the assistance given to me by Vedanta and I am thankful.” The same sentiment was echoed by other felicitated families.

Lions & Lioness urges Hygiene,Cleanliness this Republic Day


Jharsuguda : Lions & Lioness Club of Jharsuguda Titans under District 322 C2, unveiled their Project “Swachh Jharsuguda, Swasth Jharsuguda” on Tuesday at Jhanda Chowk, Jharsuguda. On this occasion, the project was inaugurated by Jharsuguda MLA Naba Kishore Das, by leaving a bunch of Tricolour Balloons.

The Project”Swachh Jharsuguda, Swasth Jharsuguda” aims to provides cleanliness in Jharsuguda by distributing 100 Dustbins, Sponsored by Lion. Ashok Jalan across Jharsuguda Municipality. Several members from across Social Organisation and eminent person Durga Singhania , Shankar lal Khetan , Kishan Lal Sultania, Raju Bazaz, Shankar Shah, Omprakash Badhan of Jharsuguda were present to support the cause taken by Lions Club of Jharsuguda Titans.

“Apno se Apni Baat” function for Honouring Eminent Social Workers


Jharsuguda : Utkal Pradeshik Marwari Sammelan ‘s Jharsuguda Unit had organised a Community Honouring Programme “Apno se Apni Baat” organised at Hotel Mohini Royale on Friday evening. In this, Members of Utkal Pradeshik Marwari Sammelan had honour various eminent person of the society,who had been contributing in the all social works for the welfare of the Jharsuguda.
