JHARSUGUDA : The flight services from Veer Surendra Sai (VSS) Airport, here is likely to take off under the third phase of ‘Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik’ (UDAN 3.0) scheme.
On Tuesday, four-member officials of Alliance Air, a wholly owned subsidiary of Air India, visited Veer Surendra Sai (VSS) Airport, Jharsuguda and had reviewed the facilities and Safety arrangement of the airport for starting its flight operations by March.
Alliance Air, have recently bagged three routes to Kolkata, Bhubaneswar and Raipur from Jharsuguda airport under UDAN 3.0 scheme.
“A Four member team comprising Security and IT officials of Delhi and Kolkata office of Alliance Air arrived today at VSS Airport . The officials have visited and collected first hand information from Security and IT point of view. The officials visited terminal Building, ATC Building and Operational Area. Alliance air was awarded three sectors to operate from Jharsuguda to Kolkata , Raipur and Bhubaneswar under RCS UDAN 3.0. They will operate ATR-72 type of aircraft. Alliance Air officials were quite satisfied after the visit and they are likely to submit the report to higher officials after which the final decision will be taken. But I am hopeful that Alliance Air may be the 1st Schedule carrier to start operations from here.” said S. K. Chauhan Airport director, VSS Airport
“We have come to survey the facilities and arrangements at this place after that we will submit a report to the company, based on which they will start the operations. The exact date will be known after when we submit the report,” said T. K. Saha, Co-ordinator, Alliance Air, Eastern Region, Kolkata
Previously, Spicejet officials had also visited the VSS Airport and announced to start their operation by March 31st. Spice jet is schedule to starts its operation from Jharsuguda to Delhi, Kolkata and Hyderabad.
