OPGC conducts Emergency Response Mock Drill

Ib Thermal Power Station, OPGC conducted an emergency response mock drill on toxic gas release in its plant premises on Saturday, Dtd.15.12.2018. In this programme, an on-site emergency mock drill on chlorine gas release and rescue operations was conducted with participation from all the emergency response teams of OPGC. This is a part of mock drill exercise OPGC conducts twice a year to ascertain the preparedness in case of an emergency in the plant. In this drill, emergency response teams demonstrated their role and skills in the combating chlorine gas leakage and rescue operations in such an emergency. 

Sri Anil Kumar Nanda, Asst. Director (Factories & Boilers, Jharsuguda) witnessed the mock drill along with Station Fire Officer, Banaharpali, representatives from emergency mutual aid partners (Vedanta Ltd. & TRL Krosaki) and representatives from nearby located safety bodies. After completion of the drill, a mock drill feedback session was held at the mock drill site in presence of all the delegates, nearby industry representatives, response team leaders and members.

Asst. Director (Factories & Boilers) Sri Nanda appreciated OPGC’s management and emergency response teams for their efforts and expressed satisfaction on the emergency response procedure and capability.  He also verified all onsite chlorine emergency equipment. The observers also suggested few improvement measures to bring further improvement in future preparedness. Mr. Sanjay Garhwal, Plant Manager of OPGC thanked the delegates for their presence and feedback after speaking about the main objective of the mock drill. Among others, District Emergency officer Smt. Sangeeta Das, District Project Officer (ODRAF) were present.
