Jharsuguda: Union Railway and Coal Minister Piyush Goyal visited Samleshwari Open Cast Mines under IB Valley Area of Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) on Monday.
Mr Goyal arrived at Veer Surendra Sai Airport, Jharsuguda on Monday morning and later visited Samleshwari Opencast Mines and inspected the mines and enquired about the various mine activities and expansion plans. On this occasion, Anil Kumar Jha, Chairman Coal India Limited, CMD, RR Mishra, Girish Pillai, Member Traffic, Railways and other officials of the district were also present.
Piyush Goyal said that “A surprise Inspection was done. I have reviewed the mines and the ongoing work is being gone on and held discussed for improving the work. We have also held a discussion to improve the co-ordination between Railways and Coal. We have taken some important decision for shifting some railway lines on this visit. I think that the target of Coal Production in IB Valley Mines will be achieved. Our aim is to see how the more production can be done so that it generates more employment for the people and by this, it not only boost the progress and growth of India but even Odisha too.”
MCL, a leading coal-producing arm of Coal India, contributes about 25 per cent to the total dry fuel production of the country.
