Jharsuguda: As the Jharsuguda Town gears up for the celebration of the Ganesh Puja and Vishwakarma Puja, both falling on the September 17th this year. The members of all the Puja Committees in a race to celebrate this year Ganesh Puja in a different way have been busy in completion of last minute decoration of their respective pendals. One such talk of the town celebration, which happens every year, is from the Friends Club, who is known for its unique Decoration and aarti for the Ganesh Puja. This year too, maintaining the same buzz in the whole of Jharsuguda district. The Committee has been quietly preparing for hosting International Sand Artist of Odisha, Padma Shri awardee Sudarshan Pattnaik.
Pattnaik, who has made India proud with his magnificent sand sculptures for spreading messages or drawing attention over issue and winning several awards and accolades internationally, would showcase his sand sculpturing talent at this pendal this Ganesh Puja of Friends Club at Jharsuguda, for the first time.
For him, special arrangements have been already made by organizers of Friends Club’s Sri Ganesh Puja Committee.
“We have always been celebrating Ganesh Puja in a very unique since 1993 and this year too we had thought of doing something different. We had been planning this event since long back but we were unable to get a schedule of Sudarshan Pattnaik due to his busy schedule. I personally thank him for taking out his precious time for the people of Western Odisha, who would get a chance of witnessing his internationally acclaimed sand sculpturing in Jharsuguda itself.” Said Ajay Poddar, President, Friend’s Club
He added “As there are no beaches in Western Odisha, a replica of Puri beach has been specially crafted inside a total area of 2700 Sq. Ft. using nearly 52 tons of sand for showcasing Pattnaik’s Sand Craft.” He added
“It’s been a great honor to be at Jharsuguda and be a part of this celebration. It has given me an opportunity to showcase my talent and spread my message through my art among the people.” Said Sudarshan Pattnaik.
