Banjari Villagers blocks Sesa Sterlite’s Gate No. 2 in protest of not providing employment to youths and Peripheral development in the Village.

Jharsuguda: Hundreds of Villagers of Banjari Village, blocked Gate No. 2 of Sesa Sterlite (formerly known as Vedanta Aluminum Limited) on Monday to protest against the company for not providing employment and peripheral developments in the Village.

Villagers along with the unemployed youths and women’s had blocked the Gate No. 2 of Vedanta since Morning. Their main demand was to provide employment to the village youths and peripheral developments like construction of roads, renovation of pond etc.

“Company had promise us that it will provide employment and would do developmental works in our village but the company officials always says that they would do it in a day or two but nothing has been  done till now.” said Basudev Chechang, a resident of Banjari village

In this context Sesa Sterlite company spokesperson said that “Villagers mainly had two three demands like construction of road, local employment, renovation of pond which has been sorted out. Work order for road had already been sanctioned and the work would start within 15 days. For local employment, the people coming through employment exchange will be kept under partner’s company initially and then will be taken in the company as per the individual qualification.”
