St. Mary’s Convent School won theSesa Sterlite Mentor’s Trophy Inter School Dance Championship

Jharsuguda: The first ever Mentor’s Trophy ‘Inter School Group Dance Championship’ organized by Sesa Sterlite Ltd. (Formerly Vedanta Aluminium Ltd.) came to an end on 24th December 2013, with St. Mary’s Convent School, Jharsuguda emerging as champions.

The occasion was also marked by and emotional atmosphere when Shri. Bijoy Mohanty , Odia Cine Icon was felicitated for his exceptional contribution over 35 years to Odia culture by Sesa on behalf of children and  people of Jharsuguda.

‘With a view to encourage young talents in schools and to facilitate a befitting platform to schools to showcase their efforts for overall development of their children our company has initiated this cultural initiative and we feel elated that this annual event could provide platform to 12 lead schools from Jharsuguda and Sambalpur district and we expect many more schools to take part in future’ said Mr. Abhijit Pati, President and Chief Operating Officer of Sesa Sterlite.

Mr. Bijoy Mohanty said ‘I congratulate the Vedanta team for successfully organizing such a noble and innovative people connect programme involving  children ,schools,  parents and  wide range of citizens,such efforts by corporates will go a long way in bringing out the latent talent of the state benefitting our culture in turn.’

In a grand event , the glittering ‘Mentor’s Trophy’ was ceremoniously brought to stage and was fiercely contested by some of the finest dance performances by the schools .In a scintillating neck to neck finale , finally St. Mary emerged as champions surpassing a brilliant display by Vikash Concept School , Sambalpur by a flicker.

In presence of jury comprising of  Ranjan Das,  V.Ramalakshmi , Deepali Choudhury and Ranjana Pati the event was witnessed by Principals, Teachers, parents, senior citizens, media fraternity, employees of Vedanta and members of social organisations of the region enhancing the external connect of the corporate on a different scale.

The other participating schools were DAV Public School, Jawahar Novodaya Vidyalaya,Govt. Girls High School , Govt. High School, Ghanshyam Hemlata Vidya Mandir, Town High School , VSS High School  of Jharsuguda , BEM School , BR High School of Belpahad , and Delhi Public School from Sambalpur.  The initiative was appreciated and welcomed by all sections of the society present on the occasions.
