Municipality Election to be held on November 22nd

Announcement of elections of 22 urban local bodies (ULBs) in nine Western Odisha districts which were postponed due to the agitation by lawyers demanding permanent High Court bench in the region, which would be held on November 22, but major political parties of the district have still left their decision with the CAC.

Jharsuguda Dist. Bar Association President, Advocate Dinesh Jain said that,” As per the decision taken in the Boudh meeting, We had given 45 days to the central government to take a decision on the state government’s recommendation. We will maintain decision of No Court and No Vote till 15th November and keeping view of recent declaration of ULB Election in Western Odisha, CAC would meet again and decide the next course of Action.”

Jharsuguda BJD Senior Leader Sandeep Awasthy said that, “We welcome the decision, the demand of CAC was fulfilled by our CM Naveen Pattnaik by recommending the Centre to set up a permanent bench of the Orissa high court, which was also welcomed by CAC and we are hopeful that this time democratic process will not be obstructed by any cause or fact.”

“We are ready for election but we will abide with the decision made by CAC.” Said by Jharsuguda BJP President Pramod Senapathy

“We welcome the decision by SEC and are very much ready for the election but as per the decision taken earlier by the CAC and was supported by all party in the region for No Court and No Vote, we would like to see what CAC decides and after that only we would like to take our decision for the interest of the public.” said by Jharsuguda Congress Dist. President Bhawani Shankar Pati.
