Pregnant Elephant dies at Baghdihi Forest Range

Jharsuguda:  A pregnant mother elephant was found dead at Sahaspur Section of Sunapada Gramya Jungle under Jharsuguda District Baghdihi forest range on Saturday morning.

Nearby villagers of that jungle had intimated the forest officials who later visited the spot.

The pregnant elephant’s stomach was being totally in a damaged position as it burst out due to failure of pregnancy. The fully grown foetus of a baby elephant was also lying dead near to the spot.

The DFO along with forest officials, Jai Kumar Pallai, Forest Ranger, Himanshu Shekhar Muduli, along with Veterinary Asst. Surgeon of Laikera Radheshyam Das reached the spot and had performed Post mortem of the mother elephant. Forest Officials suspects that the elephant might have been dead four days ago.

DFO Ashwini Kar said that, “A female elephant who was pregnant was found dead with full growth foetus. A Post mortem was conducted by VAS, Laikera. After which she and her foetus was been buried on the same jungle itself.”
